Prom Season is upon us

WOW, this will either take you back in time, or have you thinking of your own kids growing up.  I took my 16yr old daughter shopping for a Prom Dress this past week.  YIKES!  She is a modest kid and it was a slight challenge to find something that would be “Nice-Enough” for the prom but cover everything she wanted to cover.

She tried on about 10 different dresses, most of them were very nice, but the ones that fit her the best, were not the ones she “loved”.  She ended up going with a cute Royal Blue Ankle length dress.  It is not quite floor length, so now we need to find a pair of really cute shoes that scream “LOOK AT ME”.  This is not her own prom, so she is not going all out, as a matter of fact she is going with a friend {not a boyfriend (that could be another whole post)} .  She wants to look nice, but at the same time, wants to have “somewhere to go” with her outfit for her own Jr and Sr Proms.

So, I am taking these next 2 weeks to enjoy watching her prepare for this event.  She’s already got a friend to help her with her make-up and is trying to find someone to help her with her hair.  I should probably include that earlier on Prom day, she is running a 5K trail race. I’m thinking she might need an early afternoon nap.

What do you remember about Prom Season from your past?  Any crazy stories about shopping or renting a tux?  What about getting there?  I would love to hear from some others experiences.

Till next time.

Time Tip – Make time for your friends/family

Your Friends and Family deserve the best of your time.  Don’t just settle for what is left over from your other commitments.  Making time for them in your busy schedule tells them exactly how important they are to you.

SO, how do you make time for them and still meet your other responsibilities?  I suggest that you look ahead and block out time now, and treat that time as sacred and important, not able to be moved.  This simple act of commitment to yourself, will give you a sense of peace and purpose.  We are not meant to be secluded from others.

We gain an immense sense of community and connectedness when we spend time with our peers/family.  Did you know that the people you hang around with are the sum of who you are?  Whether financially or socially.  If you want to up your game, then find new friends who are where you want your life to be, and add them to your circle.  (this doesn’t mean to dump the old friends, just add some new ones.  LOL)

So have fun and make time for your friends/family, they will thank you for it.

Till next time.

Dyrene

Time Tip – I think I need a dose of my own medicine

Hello all,

This past week has totally gotten away from me.  I have not used a single one of my own suggestions for making better/efficient use of my time.  So what, you ask??  Well it just goes to show you that knowledge of information doesn’t always indicate use and implementation of it.

I have systems that I have used over the course of the last 16years, and they all worked at the time I was using them.  Now that things have changed (yet again!!) I am reworking them to suit my current needs.

There are very few things that stay the same when you are raising a family.  The concerns, issues and needs just shift, they don’t ever go away.  That is why our systems and schedules need to shift too.  If we don’t allow for expansion and growth in our systems, they will eventually become the thing that chokes us.

So, is there something in your system/schedule that needs to shift?  Take a few minutes to take a fresh look at them and you might surprisingly find a small shift that results in a sense of relief and freedom.

Till next time.

What do you LOVE to do??

Hobbies are sometimes not regarded as important.  In my past, I have been on both sides of the fence.  I have been fanatic about collecting key-chains and Angel figurines.  I have then turned around and gotten rid of most of both of the collections.

I realized at one point that I was collecting STUFF and not really finding any JOY or LOVE in either one.  SO, I kept the ones that did bring a smile to my face or a memory to my heart.  The others, I donated to a yard sale to bless someone else.

I do have some hobbies.  I pretend to “RUN” (more like jog quickly), I crochet, knit, cook, bake and well that’s about it.  But, none of them make my heart jump.  They are all a way for me to do ‘something’.  Then, on the other hand, the thing I do that does make my heart jump is my job!

Can your “JOB” actually be the thing you LOVE to do??  I know that when I am teaching busy moms how to gain more control over their day and realize how to live their dreams, I am the happiest.  Happier then than at any other time in my day.  Happier than when I write my blog, learn new marketing strategies,  or fine tune my website.

I guess that NOW, I am one of the people that “Gets to LOVE their job, and LIVE my dream”.

So, what is it that you LOVE to do?  and, do you do it regularly enough to maintain happiness and joy every day??

Till next time.

40 Days of Purpose – A Group “Book Study” Program

Are you puzzled about your purpose in life??

As someone who has struggled with discovering my purpose for over TWO decades, I can tell you that the most damaging part of this state of being is not what you might think.

No, it’s not the constant reeling of emotions up and down, over and over.  It’s the belief that the cycle is inevitable.

Now a days, most people (whether they admit it or not) don’t want to be around someone that is on an emotional rollercoaster.  So if YOU aren’t living your purpose, guess what?  You will find yourself in the same place 6 months/1 year from now.

That’s why I am hosting  “40 Days of Purpose” – Group Book Study based on the New York Times Bestseller “The Purpose Driven Life” by Rick Warren  (this is a Christian-Based Book Study)

This is what you will learn during this study:

  • The #1 mistake nearly everyone makes when they try to find their purpose
  • What you must come to terms with if you want to find out how the pieces of your life all fit together
  • The most crucial shift you need to make to reduce your stress, simplify your decisions, increase your satisfaction, and, most importantly prepare you for eternity

And More!!

Here’s what you get when you register for the study.

  • A copy of the book (so you can mark it up, highlight important parts and generally make it your own)
  • A journal designed specifically to go along with this journey, so you can take notes and have a record of where you started and the changes along the way
  • Daily Inspirational Email with some additional insights and questions for you to dig deeper into your study (if desired)
  • A weekly group call where we will discuss the previous weeks’ questions and set the groundwork for the upcoming weeks’ study.  The final week will be a 2-hour open forum Q&A Session.
  • A Private Facebook Group where you can post questions, ah-ha’s and anything that will help us all connect further to finding our purpose
  • mp3 recordings of all group calls
  • Upon completion of the study, you will receive a certificate of completion.

This study will start on June 1, 2012 with a kickoff call at 1PM EDT, 12PM CT, 11AM MT, 10AM PT.  For international conversions click here.

The cost of the study is $197.00.  You can register by clicking the following link to PayPal.  We accept VISA, MasterCard, AMEX, Discover and PayPal.

Mindset Monday – Why do we need to know why?

WHY??

It seems like such a small question, but it also seems to cause the most distress in people.  The uncanny need to know why for everything.  Why is that???

My Coach recently told me I have to give up my “need to know why” before I do anything, or I will not continue to move forward.  At first, I was a little taken back.  BUT, how do I know if I’m making the right choice?  How do I know that this is what I need?  How do I feel comfortable and confident?  Whew!!!  Lots of fear there!!

In thinking about this need to know why, I realized that needing to know is only a defense mechanism to prevent me from making a mistake.  Why am I so afraid of making a mistake?  Well, my best guess is all the past mistakes that I’ve made have made me fearful of what others are going to say, and of “not being right”.

My biggest breakthrough was “WHO CARES!!”  Really, who cares if I make a mistake.  Mistakes are only bad if they make you run the other way or give up on a dream.  For the most part, mistakes are forgiven and you move on, learning from their mere presence in your life.

So, what is your reason behind your WHY???  Spend a few moments thinking about this and then GIVE IT UP!!!!!

Till next time.

Dyrene
