Sometimes we go through the motions and don’t even realize what or why we are doing it. If our goal is to be more productive during the day, why do we find ourselves wasting hours on things that don’t move us closer to our goal. If our goal is becoming more fit, then why do we make poor choices filled with sugar and fat, when we KNOW that it’s not going to help us??
I think that sometimes, our short term desires are more prominent than our long term goals. We have become such an “instant” society, that waiting for anything, including results, just isn’t something we are accustomed to doing.
“Nothing tastes as good as being fit feels” ~ anonymous I can’t remember where I first heard this quote, but it is a great quote to use regardless of the situation. Take our productivity goal from above, lets rephrase our quote, “Nothing is more rewarding than how getting things done makes me feel”. It takes a moment or two to find exactly how to word it, but once you do, it can have a fantastic impact on your decision.
Today’s Challenge: the next time you have a decision to make that impacts one of your long term goals, put it into the context of this quote. Then make a choice from that vantage point. Let me know how this works for you.
Till next time.
